Op de expositie YES in Mama hangt een citaat uit een interview met John Lennon waarin hij zijn ontmoeting met Yoko Ono beschrijft Het herinnerde me eraan dat hij ook herintreder in de kunst was. Oorspronkelijk opgeleid aan de kunstacademie werd hij muzikant en Beatle. Na de boven beschreven kennismaking keerde hij, naast zijn muziek, terug naar de beeldende kunst.
In de tekst toont Lennon zich kritisch tegenover de kunstwereld: “I had a bit of a hang up about art too, having been to art school, and disliked the attitude of the so called artists, you know” maar verzwijgt ook zijn eigen vooroordelen niet: “And at first I reacted like a mug you know, like the ones that were saying “We don’t get a badge” you know, so I thought “Ha ha – you don’t fool me with all this junk” you know”. Maar hij stapt daar vervolgens wel overheen: “But it said ‘Yes’. And if it had said ‘No’ I would have carried on with my preconceived ideas about art and artists, that they’re all sort of “Yeah yeah, sure, sure”. But it said ‘Yes’ and that was enough”
Het gaat hem niet om het medium de vorm, maar de houding, de intentie.
